The Shawshank Redemption

I’m attracted to interesting stories. They excite me. For me, a story is interesting when it’s relevant and adds meaning to my life. It has to give me a greater understanding of what we’re all about as humans. Or what the world is about. Being involved with The Shawshank Redemption was a thrilling experience. I learned about the novel and its writer, Stephen King. I learned about that time period in the Maine and about what was happening on Shawshank State Prison. It resonates with what’s going on in my personal life. That makes a great story.

One of my favorite quote is “These prison walls are funny. First you hate 'em, then you get used to 'em. Enough time passes, gets so you depend on them. That's institutionalized. They send you here for life, that's exactly what they take”.

We’re all have our own prison, that called memories, whether it is a good or bad, it has the same effect, first you hate ‘em or love ‘em, second you found yourself get so depend on them. Because it lays on every spot of place you’ve visited and every song you’ve listened. Memories are one of a kind of unique gift. It appears even we don’t want to, in our life, day and night. It can drive you down below or give you wings to go up above. Sometimes they make you laugh with no reason as same as they make you cry. For the first, you think you own it, but surely in fact, it starts to own you.

Living in memories makes you stuck between the past and the future, you’ll never live in the moment of present. The poisonous word “what ifs” will be on and on in your mind. Then you start to regret things you can’t change. These make you close the door for the opportunities that life offers. Keeping the good one will make you lose the opportunities of new happiness, so is keeping the bad one, will make you lose the opportunities of healing process.

Things must be happen for our own goodness. Nothing wrong with your decisions. What really meant to be, it will meant to be. God knows what belongs in your life and what doesn’t, just trust and let go. Sure, it can be hard at times, but we should always pursue our genuine happiness that soon will be another memories.

You are not the prisoner of past and future, free yourself from it.
